For researchers

Mondonomo is built from official registers, reference works and person records, and every figure says where it comes from. If you study names, populations or languages, here is what you can do with it, and how to work with us. Write to us.

Cite it

Every name page carries a citation line with the data build it was read from. How the figures are made, and the ways they can be wrong, is on the methodology page; our papers and books are under research.

Ask for data access

Aggregate tables beyond what the pages show — by country, period, script or name type — can be prepared for research. With a free account you also see the full list of sources and, on every name page, which registers and reference works attest it.

Collaborate on a corpus or a register

If you hold a name register, a historical census, a parish index or an onomastic dictionary, we can add it with its provenance and credit it on every page it supports. We also welcome joint papers.

Send corrections

A wrong meaning, origin or figure on a name page can be flagged on the page itself, where a person reads every report. For anything systematic — a source misread, a language mislabelled — use the form below.

We use what you send only to answer it (see Privacy). There may be a quick check that you are a person.
